Union Station Neighborhood Co. and Union Station Alliance are proposing part of a $488 million overhaul of Denver's Union Station on Nov. 3, Denver Post reports. "It also is proposing a walk-through food market in the building's south wing, with stalls featuring the goods of local purveyors. Its plan also includes about 8,800 square feet of separate restaurant space in the building's north wing and about 25,000 square feet of leasable office space on the station's upper floors."
A large, open train room with a restaurant is also in the works. Large windows will enlarge the new train room while creating a spacious and inviting atmosphere. With the help of energy efficient windows, such as Triple Pane windows and Energy Star, energy costs can be decreased by up to 40 percent, according to the Department of Energy. LEED recognizes Energy Star as one of the most energy efficient on the market, and are qualified if the new station plans to achieve a LEED certification.
